American Lutheran Theological Seminary holds applicant status with the Association for Biblical Higher Education Commission on Accreditation (5850 T. G. Lee Blvd., Ste. 130, Orlando, FL 32822, 407.207.0808). Applicant status is a pre-membership status granted to those institutions
that meet the ABHE Conditions of Eligibility and that possess such qualities as may provide a basis for achieving candidate status within five years.
ALTS was granted applicant status on June 15, 2023. The seminary hosted a comprehensive evaluation team visit September 29 – October 1, 2026, and its next review by the Commission on Accreditation is scheduled for 2027. The institution’s current status expires February 28, 2029. ALTS is in good standing with the ABHE Commission on Accreditation, and no sanctions (warning, probation, or show cause) are in effect. Applicant status applies to the institution as a whole and includes all of its educational programs: the Certificate in Lutheran Theology, Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in Religion, Master of Arts in Theology, and Doctor of Ministry. Applicant status is not accreditation, and it does not assure that the seminary will be granted candidate status or accreditation.
